a practice to deepen your awareness
both on and off the mat
My teaching style is built on the foundational pillars of the ancient practice of yoga - connecting body, with breath and meditation while also combining it with the knowledge of movement science & mobility.
Yoga, is not ‘just’ a physical practice - but an initiation of the mind-body connection, starting with the largest sensory organ - The body.
Through the practice, you may start to notice how it feels to move with intention, to breathe fully, and to allow the discomfort of sitting in stillness.
These small acknowledgements are tools for expanding your understanding of the self and noticing how things feel, off the mat, too.
I want to help you build confidence in your own body, and find more compassion in your heart.
The Practice - for me, is one of presence. I can be ensconced body & mind in a flow or meditation whereby nothing else exists in those moments.
The heart is full, the mind is clear.
The practice offers that pause - to reflect, and experience life from a different pace and a clearer perspective.
With all my heart, I aim to teach in such a way that enables you to have this experience too.
All my classes combine the 3 main precepts: Breathwork, Asana & Meditation for a complete understanding of the tools of the practice, which in essence, become the tools for being. ( a good human :)
The classes are dynamic; offering a challenge, and a new perspective- as a way of increasing your capacity to move and feel fully both on and off the mat.
My Story
Karina Paxinos is a 750 Hour qualified Yoga Teacher - in Vinyasa Yoga, Bhakti, Rocket Yoga, Philosophy.
My yoga journey started exactly 10 years ago. I decided to walk into a yoga class in Athens, Greece- as recommended by my therapist at the time.
It was an Ashtanga class. I had no idea what that meant, but the time of the class suited me.
I remember it like it was yesterday. I tried to fold forward and somehow reach for my toes, and I just could not comprehend how it would be possible.
I remember at the time, a foundational understanding of who I believed I was, was intermingled with this image of an incredibly healthy, fit, mobile person - yet somehow not being able to touch my toes or fold forward without pain shattered that facade and rather offered an invitation to the reality of who I really was and how much of my body I actually did not inhabit.
I cried, for the entirety of the class after that realization.
Though this class was not what kept me going back to yoga at the time. it’s what it taught me that planted a seed and stayed with me long after.
My first introduction to yoga started with sessions with my therapist, who insisted that at the end of our talk sessions we conclude with Holotropic breathwork or meditation. After a year of working together he insisted I go to India to attend a vipassana retreat.
It was because of the silent meditation retreat that I had been granted a 3-month visa to India. and it was in that retreat that I walked out knowing without a doubt I would teach yoga and become a yoga teacher for the rest of my life. (with only the experience of that 1 Ashtanga class)
And so, in April 2016 - I completed by first 200HR teacher training, in Rishikesh.
What began as a determination to be able to ‘just do the splits’ by the time I turned 30, turned into a passionate conviction, a commitment, - I had yet to ever experience in any other area of my life.
And that continues to this day -
Yoga, in its entirety, has for me, in many ways become a manner in which I choose to live my life. And how I choose to share the Practice with YOU.
